Our homemade pizza dough recipe

>> Wednesday, April 1, 2009

Many of you have asked me for my homemade pizza dough recipe. This is a GREAT food storage recipe..every ingredient is items you should have in your storage already.

Pizza Dough
1 c. and 2 T. Hot tap water
2 T. Olive oil or vegetable oil
3 c. flour
1 t. sugar
3 t. salt
2 ½ t. yeast

Make sure you add the Hot tap water, yeast and sugar together. Allow to grow 5 minutes. Then slowly add the flour one cup at a time until each cup has been incorporated, and add the salt after the first cup of flour. You may not need to add all of the flour. Touch dough to make sure it is soft and bouncy to the touch. When it is, mix and let rise until it doubles in size.
For more Italian flavor add basil and garlic powder to the dough. This recipe also makes great breadsticks or cheese bread :)

How long and at what temp. do you cook this dough? It sounds good, but I don't know how hot to cook it. Thanks!

I cook my dough at 400. This seems to be hot enough to get the dough to be a little crusty. Thanks for noticing that error. :)
